Arielle and Mike’s Race Brook Lodge Wedding

Real Weddings

Arielle and Mike hosted their colorful boho wedding at Race Brook Lodge in Sheffield, MA, in the Berkshires. We met Arielle and Mike only a few months before their wedding and are so thankful we got to meet and work with this amazing couple. With only a short time before their October wedding, Arielle and Mike were looking for wedding planning support to finish up their details and to help liaison with their vendors as they were in the middle of buying their first home! In addition – we worked with Arielle and Mike to provide comprehensive day-of management alongside their amazing team of vendors.

As sometimes happens when couples are planning from afar – I didn’t meet Arielle and Mike until their wedding rehearsal. What I knew from our planning work remotely was that Arielle and Mike wanted to host an eclectic boho wedding and were drawn to Race Brook Lodge for it’s cozy on-site accommodations, multiple lounge areas, and boho-woodsy aesthetic. Arielle incorporated sentimental touches – a family rug for under the ceremony arch, framed family photos and colorful centerpieces arranged by her and her dear friends. In addition, Arielle and Mike had an eye for vintage and wove together unexpected vintage decor details in their sunny pink and orange color scheme. When it finally came time for us to meet, I saw how seamlessly their chosen wedding aesthetic matched their personal style.

Their wedding day – October 5th – was a clear and brisk New England Saturday. Sunshine warmed up the ceremony location and guests arrived to gypsy jazz prelude music by The Lucky 5. Arielle and Mike were each escorted by their parents and their vows were officiated by their dear friend Anna. At the conclusion of the ceremony, guests were welcomed to a lively social outdoor social hour. The vibrant tunes of The Lucky Five filled the grounds and guests warmed themselves by the outdoor heaters.

When it was time to move inside the tent for dinner, guests were greeted by the cheery setup of colorful floral arrangements, deep green and macrame linen accents and plenty of candlelight. With the fall sun setting, Arielle and Mike captured a few more couples shots amongst pink smoke bombs.

Once everyone had warmed up in the tent with a beautiful dinner catered by Race Brook Lodge, guests were welcomed into the barn for dancing and festivities. A hora kicked off the dancing which was led by DJ Giovanni di Mola. When I first spoke with Arielle one of the elements she was so excited for was her wedding cake which was baked and designed by Mamie Brougitte Cakes – complete with stunning artisan sugar flowers.

One of my favorite moments of the night was when Arielle’s mom stealthily handed out lyrics to a favorite song of love and well wishes to have all the guests sing to the newleyweds. I’m always amazed how these impromptu moments always turn out perfectly. In the detail work of planning a wedding, it’s so important to leave room for the spontaneous and unexpected as these moments often are the most special.

At the end of the evening, rainbow LED lights that Arielle sourced from an artist at Burning Man lit up the grounds of Race Brook Lodge and were the backdrop for Arielle and Mike’s last couple’s portraits, captured by Michael Tallman Photography. This, and all the details planned by Arielle and Mike created a celebration that was uniquely them and oh so special.

Thank you for Arielle and Mike for having us as part of your wedding day, and thank you to the team of vendors who were a part of this incredible celebration.
